Muscular Strength
When we talk about muscular strength, we are referring to the ability
of a muscle to exert a force on an object.
It follows then, that the more force we can exert on an object, the
stronger we are.
Because F=ma (Force =
Mass
x Acceleration).....
Muscular Strength
In terms of the lifting, pushing, pulling movement patterns we
associate with our training programs, it would mean that we are
stronger than the next person if we can push, pull or
lift a
heavier
object than that person ..ie we are capable of generating a greater
force through our muscles.
For information about how to increase muscular strength, and a clear
discussion of the different aspects of strength training (often called
resistance training) refer to our strength training pages.
The term
resistance
training, in the world of gym- goers and personal
trainers, refers to pushing or pulling or lifting anything that offers
a resistance to the force exerted....
Wikipedia explains it
here quite differently - which is
cause for concern, and confusion!
(I suggest you ignore that explanation)
